Three miles southeast of central Hays, Kansas, the Hays Regional Airport (HYS) is a public dual runway airport serving Hays itself and a large portion of north central Kansas. In its early days, Hays was a violent, lawless town, with residents including Wild Bill Hickok, and for a short time, George Custer. The airport is primarily used for generally aviation, although it is services by commercial carrier Great Lakes Airlines as well.

The Hays Regional Airport features a 9,000 square foot passenger terminal, where travelers will find the Great Lakes Airlines ticket counter, as well as a Hertz Auto Rental counter. Generally speaking, three to five flights arrive from and depart to Denver International Airport from Hays Regional on a daily basis.

Located at 3950 East 8th Street in Hays, the Hays Regional Airport has one commercial terminal, and does include on-site parking, which is available to passengers free of charge.
