Originally founded as a home for the Heard Family’s private collection of art, the Heard Museum North Scottsdale was founded in 1929, and is dedicated to the education and display of the heritage, culture, and art of the Native Americans of the Southwest. Today the museum attracts approximately a quarter of a million visitors annually, and is comprised of over 130,000 square feet of display, classroom, and performance space.

Notable exhibits include the Personal Journeys: American Indian Landscapes exhibition, as well as Choices & Change: American Indian Artists in the Southwest. In total, the Heard Museum boasts over 40,000 artifacts and documents, and hosts a number of special events. Chief amongst the events are the Indian Fair and Market, held every March, and the Heard Museum World Championship Hoop Dance Contest, both of which are located at the Heard’s Phoenix location.

The Heard Museum North Scottsdale is located at 32633 North Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale, Arizona. Hours of operation are from Monday through Saturday from 10 A.M. until 5 P.M., and Sunday from 11 A.M. until 5 P.M. Admission ranges from $2 to $5, with senior, student, and children receiving discounted admission.
