Heineken Experience is Amsterdam’s original brewery site of one of the world’s most recognized beer brands. Easily accessed by tram, car or boat, the historic brewery is a leading stop in sightseeing itineraries around the Dutch capital.

This museum offers an interactive exhibition experience in sharing the story of a family business that developed into a global brand. Heineken started in 1863 in Amsterdam and became famous all over the world through the years.

The different galleries show milestones in the Heineken brewery that helped put the Dutch beer in the league of other breweries in Europe and the rest of the world. A special section focuses on the brand’s full support towards sports promotions like in European football leagues. One of the best highlights at Heineken Experience is still the exciting tour around the art deco style brewery, where people learn the art of making beer. Attracting major interest are the legendary Shire horses, which used to draw carts around Netherlands to deliver barrels of beer.

Entering the Heineken Experience is not only an opportunity to appreciate the beer, but at the same time, a chance to walk inside one of the sites among Europe’s industrial heritage trail. The brewery museum is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. except on major national holidays. Close by is the Van Gogh Museum and Leidseplein.
