Heinz Field

Hotels near Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, United States .

Home to both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Panthers, Heinz Field is one of the most important sports complexes in town. Opened rather recently, back in 2001, the stadium is designed for the future of professional sports, and enjoys a prime location right on the water.

On Pittsburgh's North Side, right on the Ohio River, Heinz Field can hold around 65,000 fans, and all games have been completely packed by loyal Steelers fans, with season tickets being sold out consistently since the 1970s. It's truly a special experience to see a game at Heinz Field, with thousands and thousands of excited fans all cheering their team on in unison.

The stadium is named after Heinz ketchup, but the name isn't the only touch of the company--there are also gigantic fake bottles of ketchup that "pour" on top of the scoreboard each time a touchdown is scored by the Steelers.

In addition to housing football games, Heinz Field has enjoyed performances by bands on large-scale tours. Attached to Heinz Field is a structure called the Great Hall, where a great deal of souvenirs and memorabilia celebrating the history of both the Steelers and the Panthers.

Heinz Field is open depending on the schedule of games, so it's best to check when there are home games happening. A number of hotels are just a short drive away, including the Hilton Pittsburgh, the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel, and the Springhill Suites North Shore.
