Located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, the Hennepin Center for the Arts serves as the office, studio and performance space of more than 17 area arts organizations. The building, constructed in 1888, was originally a Masonic temple and has served as an arts center since 1979. Today, it is owned by Artspace (www.artspace.org) and is the home of Minneapolis´ leading dance companies and schools including Ballet Arts Minnesota and Minnesota Dance Theatre.

In 2010, the Hennepin Center will become a part of the Minnesota Shubert Performing Arts and Education Center, a three-building complex set to become the center of Minneapolis arts. Until then, the center will continue to serve as a premier site of music and dance in the Twin Cities.
