The Henry Vilas Zoo is located in Madison, Wisconsin. It’s a public zoo which is also free, one of the few in the world that is also accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The zoo was first opened in 1911. Since then, the area has been expanded and redeveloped. Attractions include a new red panda, tigers, polar bears, primates and more. Animals are grouped by country/region, for instance mammals of the Australian Outback and Mammals of the African Safari. There’s also a children’s zoo, where kids can get hands on with their furry friends. Opening hours are 9:30 am -5:00 pm daily. The zoo is closed on major holidays. Parking is free as well as admission.
