Het Loo Palace retains its luster as the royal residence despite having parted with the last Dutch monarch who resided within its premises until 1975. Now a state museum, Het Loo Palace welcomes the public to the astounding collections housed in the elegant surroundings. One of the major highlights of Het Loo Palace, located near Apeldoorn, is its 17th century garden.

Over 300 years old, Het Loo Palace is a definite delight for avid royal watchers who will marvel at the different collections of garments, costumes, paintings, gold, silver, furniture and other historical artifacts. An enchanting collection of royal carriages and vehicles can also be found in Het Loo Palace.

Another popular feature is the Museum of Chancery, which is a repository of insignias of national and international orders. It even boasts orders from such antiquated periods as the Crusades and Order of the Knights of Malta. Found on the East Wing, the Chancery is open from Tuesdays to Sundays at 1-5 p.m. The Gardens is a wonder on its own, with cascading fountains and magnificent statues adding more regal stature to the resplendent display of seasonal plants and flowers.

Het Loo Palace and the gardens are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays through Sundays. Hotels close by are rewarded breathtaking views of the palace gardens.
