Founded in 1905 as the Atlanta Art Association, the High Museum of Art is today one of the premier art museums of the Southern United States. The Atlanta museum is housed in a facility of more than 300,000 square feet and houses more than 11,000 works of art in its permanent collection.

Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with special extended hours on Thursdays and limited hours on Sundays, the museum’s website (www.high.org) suggests that visitors make reservations and purchase tickets prior to visiting.
