One of the major transportation hubs of North Carolina is in High Point, a town unknown to many outside of the state, save those furniture business owners, who flock to town each year for the furniture convention. A city easily accessible by car and moderately close to an airport, the best way to get there for many people is actually by train.

The High Point Amtrak Station is a stop on some of Amtrak's busiest lines in the southeast region: The Piedmont, The Carolinian, and The Crescent. Right in the heart of High Point's historic downtown section, there's no need to even wait at the station during regular business hours, because so many cute and cozy spots are a short walk away.

Originally built in 1907 by Southern Railway wen they were constructing their network through the country, High Point Amtrak Station was restored in 2002. Passengers pass through the station on their way to New Orleans, New York, Charlotte, and Raleigh, respectively.

There's no ticket office at The High Point Amtrak Station, so travelers should take care to have their tickets purchased beforehand, or be ready to use the on-site Quik-Trak ticketing machines. There's on-site parking, for a free, and restrooms and phones available for use during station hours. There's also an enclosed waiting room, in case trains are running late or travelers are arriving early.

The station hours at High Point Amtrak Station are from midnight until four in the morning, eight in the morning until two in the afternoon, and from five in the afternoon until seven-thirty in the evening daily. The Quik-Trak ticketing machines are available during those same hours.

A number of hotels are just a short walk from The High Point Amtrak Station, including The Hotel High Point, The Ramada Inn, and The Days Inn High Point.
