Located in Highland Park, Michigan, the Highland Park Ford Plant was a Ford Motor Company Construction plant until the late 1970s. The plant was constructed in 1910, based upon a design by Albert Kahn from 1908. The Highland Park Ford Plant is recognized today as a National Historic Landmark, as in 1913 it was the first automobile production facility to utilize the assembly line. Additionally, its relatively spacious design made it a model for future automobile production factory designs. While the Highland Park Ford Plant is no longer in use as an assembly plant today, it is still owned by the Ford Motor Company, and is utilized largely as a document storage center.
