Hill-Carrillo Adobe

Hotels near Hill-Carrillo Adobe, Santa Barbara, United States .

Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, the Hill-Carrillo Adobe structure is a significant tourist attraction in the Californian city of Santa Barbara, located at 11 East Carrillo Street. The Hill-Carrillo Adobe home was originally built by Massachusetts native Daniel Hill in the 1820s, as a gift for his new wife, the granddaughter of an important Spanish colonial functionary (that set up the Spanish military fortress in Santa Barbara, the Royal Presidio as it is known).

Though the Hill-Carrillo Adobe home is privately owned and does not offer tours or visits for members of the general public, there is a sign up that encourages taking peeks through the windows and photos from the outside; the architecture can be fully appreciated right from the street, and the structure is a favorite stop along most Santa Barbara city walking tours.

In the vicinity of the Hill-Carrillo Adobe home, visitors will find more than enough lodging and accommodation options to meet their needs, and among the many options it is worth pointing out the Canary Hotel, the Hotel El Prado, and the Harbor View Inn.
