Hillegom Railway Station - 2182 Hillegom, South Holland - situated between Leiden and Haarlem, is a major station, linking two of Netherlands’ biggest, most important cities. It is located in the area called Duin-en Bollenstreek (Dune and Bulb Region), in the South of Holland. It is also close to other important cities, such as Lisse, Noordwijkerhout, Hoofdorp, Kaag.

The station was originally opened in 1891, and in 1898 it was moved to a new location, after the first was closed and the building torn down. The passanger railway lines were closed in September 1944, because of the bombing during World War II. The freight tracks were still used, till the late 1980s. A reopening took place on May 28th 2000, and now Hillegom Railway Station is an important part of the railway network in Netherlands.

Close airports to Hillegom Railway Station are the Schiphol and Rotterdam Airport. The city of Hillegom is also home to the Den Hartogh Ford Museum, which has over 200 cars, all of them from before the World War II, being the largest Ford cars collection in the world. Though not in the immediate proximity, there are many attractions worth visiting at a distance of few kilometres, amongst which Recreatiepark Linnaeushof, Circus Zandvoort, Keukenhof, Space Expo Noordwijk Museum, Cobra Museum, Amsterdam Olympic Stadium.
