Located in the city's historic and charming French Quarter, the Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC) is an institution completely dedicated to the promotion of and research regarding the significant cultural inheritance of this highly diverse and active city. The Historic New Orleans Collection is a museum as well as a publishing house and center for academic, culturally-oriented research on subjects of interest concerning the city's past as well as that of the southern US Gulf region.

The museum has several different exhibits and collections, including the Louisiana History Galleries, the Williams Gallery, and the Williams Residence, the latter two in honor of founder General L. Kemper Williams (who created the institution back in 1966). The hours of operation of the Historic New Orleans Collection are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9:30am-4:30pm (except for holidays), and each visitor will be charged $5 admission fee.
