The Historic Railroad Shops of Savannah, Georgia, were built in the 1800s, and still welcome visitors today. A railroad museum and general industry museum and two of the tenants that have occupied the Shops, which are counted among the nation's historic treasures on the list of National Historic Landmarks. Special exhibits have included model trains, old machinery and furnishings, and a steam locomotive dating back to 1914. Other features of the site include diesel locomotives, cabooses, coaches, vintage street cars (three, notably, from the River Street Streetcar line), and Light Rail Vehicles. Visitors of all ages to this lovely Southern town will be delighted by the blast from the past that awaits them at the Historic Railroad Shops.
