The Historic Rosedale Plantation is one of the premier historical sites in Charlotte, North Caroline. Built in 1815 by Archibald Frew, it was occupied by several prestigious North Carolina families and also the home to approximately twenty slaves in the mid-1800s. The plantation is a fine example of federal period architecture in North Carolina, especially notable for its faux grained woodwork and French wallpaper. The gardens of Rosedale are a natural sight to behold as well.

Tours of the Historic Rosedale Plantation are conducted Thursday through Sunday beginning at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Administration suggests that large groups or those looking to schedule tours make reservations. The tour examines the architecture and history of the area and features original furniture and constructions. Those interested in slave culture may also want to attend the Unheard Voices Tour. Prices for the tours are $5 for adults and $4 for children and senior citizens.
The gardens of the plantation are also a beautiful natural attraction for visitors. Though little is known about the original state of the gardens, they have been replanted and restored today and contain impressive trees and colorful flowers.
