The museum is set inside the restored buildings of the original mill house, thus a good amount of the vintage machinery are part of the exhibitions. The exhibitions cover more of Bielefeld's industries such as sewing machines, bicycles and an innovative foodstuff called Cameo pudding. Bielefeld also became the centre of manufacturing armaments and weapons during World War II. Another section of the Historical Museum views the social divisions that grew from industrialisation, setting apart the merchants or upper class from the working class. Opening hours for the Historical Museum is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
