The Historical Museum of Southern Florida is located in Miami, Florida. The museum’s permanent collection revolves around the peoples and cultures that make up the South Florida region. Called Tropical Dreams: A People’s History of South Florida, the exhibit explores the area’s history in five periods, first arrivals, international rivalries, southward, expansion, new people-new technology and gateway of the Americas. The museum itself lays claim to being one of the largest private, regional history museums in the entire USA. There’s a research center which houses the museum’s archives and library; it is open to the public. The Object collections include artifacts from the Seminole and Miccosukee Indians as well as objects representing Pan American Airways, and archeological findings that date back 10,000 years. There are special events and educational activities for the whole family too.
