The Hobby Center for Performing Arts in Houston, Texas, is a theatre located at the edge of the city’s theatre district. It was opened in 2002 and was designed by Robert A. M. Stern; the theatre cost $102 million and is the star of the Houston entertainment sphere. The Hobby is meant as a destination for cultural connoisseurs; it boasts two theatres, the Sarofim Hall and Zilkha Hall, along with an award winning restaurant and an 800 car garage. The theatre is architecturally arresting with its 60 foot glass walls and its sweeping façade. There’s a three story Grand Lobby with a roof supported by dramatic steel columns. A second floor terrace provides a great spot for viewing the city and taking in all the majestic sites. Tickets can be bought at the box office.
