The Hokitika Airport is conveniently located approximately one kilometer in the eastern part of Hokitika in the Western Coast of New Zealand. The airport is the primary domestic gateway to get into the area of Greymouth and the area of Hokitika.

The Airport is also an uncontrolled aerodrome that is available for use even without the permission of the operator which is the Hokitika Airport Ltd. The runway has a length of 1,314 meters that is made of asphalt. The airport has a café and restaurant as well.

One of the main areas that is being served by the aerodrome is the Hokitika. It is a town south of the general area of Greymouth. It has a population of only 3,078 people as far as the 2007 census shows. The town was built as a means of providing shelter for the miners during the early goldrush of 1864. The town is dependent on greenstone, gold, coal and forestry as a means of livelihood and industry.

Nearby attractions include the Te Waipounamu Maori Heritage Centre, the Westland Greenstone, the Gold Room, Hoktika Glass Studio, Wildfoods Festival, Jade Factori Hoktika, Walker Park and Historic Hoktika Lighthouse.
