Holborn

First mentioned in 959, by King Edgar, in a charter of Westminster Abbey, Holborn is one among the oldest historically relevant areas of United Kingdom.
Located in Central London, England, the name Holborn was derived from the middle age English. ‘hol’ means hollow and ‘bourne’ means brook and thus, the name refers to River Fleet which ran through an eastern steep valley.
In the 18th century, Holborn was home to the infamous Mother Clap’s Molly House, but later on it became the hub of entertainment activities. Musical Halls and theatres came up along with various taverns and inns.
The famous London Weather Centre was located in Holborn until the year 1992. Few of the important sites for sightseeing are Ely Palace, St Etheldreda’s Church, Hatton Garden, etc.
