Hollywood Park Racetrack, a thoroughbred racetrack located at 1050 S Prairie Ave in Inglewood, dates all the way back to 1938.

Originally opened under the auspices of the Hollywood Turf Club – presided over by legendary Hollywood studio boss Jack Warner – the opening list of shareholders reads like a Who’s Who of early Hollywood: Al Jolson, Walt Disney, Bing Crosby, Sam Goldwyn and Darryl Zanuck were all on board in one capacity or another. Warner’s son Mervyn (who produced The Wizard of Oz and directed many films) took over as director of the racetrack until his death in 1986. The opening racing showcase, the Hollywood Gold Cup, was won by famed horse Seabiscuit. The first Breeder’s Cup was held at the track in 1984. Today, the track hosts races both big and small, six months out of the year.

Races are held during the Autumn Meeting from November 13 to December 20. The Spring and Summer Meeting opens April 22 and runs until July 19. Gates open at 10:15 am. General admission is $8 (including general parking) and $5 for seniors. Preferred parking is $5. Admission to the casino and Clubhouse is $10. The turf club carries a $20 admission fee.
