Holmenkollen Ski Museum

The Holmenkollen Ski Museum in Oslo pays tribute to over 4,000 years of skiing activities in Norway. It is also the site of the ski jump where Olympic champions toppled world records during the 1952 Winter Olympics.

The oldest skiing museum in the world, Holmenkollen museum not only honors the memory of legendary sports figures but Polar explorers as well. One major feature is the Viking legacy, seen from old skis, carvings and local crafts. Polar expeditions led by Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen are also included in the exhibitions.

HolmenkollenÕs ski jump affords visitors spectacular views of Oslo with its plateau made into a viewing deck. The museum is open all year long; from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Peak season sees ski resorts and mountain lodges filled to capacity, as holidaymakers flock to enjoy skiing in the challenging Norwegian trails.
