The Holocaust Museum of Houston, Texas opened its doors in 1996 with the goal of educating its visitors about one of the most horrible events of human history. It is a somber yet hopeful reminder of past occurrences aimed at ensuring that such occurrences will never take place again.

The museum has one permanent exhibit, “Bearing Witness: a Community Remembers” that focuses on the stories of Holocaust survivors living in the Houston area. Other pieces acquired and exhibited by the museum include a World War II Holocaust Railcar and a Danish rescue boat. The museum also houses an important education center.

Admission to the Holocaust Museum of Houston is free. It is open from Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m. For more information, head to www.hmh.org.
