The Holyland Model is a miniature recreation of ancient Jerusalem located in the grounds of the eponymously named hotel near the Old City. This unique 3-dimensional museum transports visitors into a time warp, as far as the year 66 AD, when Jerusalem had not been conquered by the Roman Empire.

Walking along the Holyland Model, one feels like a giant watching the city’s many temples, villages and important landmarks. This miniature cityscape was built out of marmor, steel, copper, gold, ceramics and Jerusalem stone, staying true to the accounts of famed Jerusalem historians. With the 1:50 scale, Holyland Model is an outstanding work of an interactive exhibition.

People will get to see popular sites such as Herod’s Palace, David’s Tomb, Palace of Caiphas, Temple Mount and Damascus Gate. The museum is the brainchild of the owner of the Holyland Hotel as a fond remembrance to his fallen son in Israel’s War of Independence. Holyland Model is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
