The Hong Kong Zoological and Botanicals garden is located in the northern slope of Victoria Peak in Hong Kong. It is considered as one of the oldest and finest zoological and botanical parks ever created. It was opened to the public in 1871 and was previously known as the Ping Tao Garden. The Garden was once a private garden owned by Governor Bong Tau. A statue of King George VI was built as a commemoration of British colonial rule in the area.

The park provides a nature loving environment and atmosphere in the Central Hong Kong. Located in the park are a variety of plants and birds like the Dawn Redwood and the Ailanthus. There are different sections in the park as well like the Bamboo Garden which has 20 species of bamboo, the Camellia Garden which houses the rare species of Yunna Camellia and the Golden Camellia. Also found in the park are the sections of Magnolia Garden, Palm Garden, Bauhinia Garden , Azalea Garden and the Herb Garden.

Several mammals and reptiles and birds are also found in the park such as elephants, giraffes, alligators, turtle, the Red Crowned Crane, flamingos and peacocks. Admission is free and opening hours are from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the Fountain terrace Garden, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Greenhouse and Exhibition Centre and other areas are open from 6a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Hotels in the area are the YMCA Garden View, Ice House, Hotel LKF, The Landmark Mandarin, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, and the Lan Kwai Fong Hotel.
