Honolulu Harbor is the focal point of Oahu and is known as Kulolia and Ke Awa O Kou in the local tongue. Besides being the state of Hawaii’s main seaport in modern times, studies have proven that the harbor has been in use for over 1,000 years of the island’s history. The majority of shipping in and out of Hawaii is handled by water to this day and moves through Honolulu Harbor.

One of the most imposing sights in the harbor area is the Aloha Tower, a lighthouse dating back to 1926, which is located on Pier 9. All around the tower area is a large shopping center and entertainment complex, along with a number of restaurants.
