Akron Civic Theater

Hotels near Akron Civic Theater, Akron, United States .

The Akron Civil Theater is one of only five remaining Depression era atmospheric theaters in the United States. Built in 1929 by Marcus Loew and designed by world-renowned theater architect John Eberson, the model of the theater’s interior structure is modeled after a Moorish castle and its Mediterranean style. Its medieval carvings, Italian sculptures and European antiques are stunning.

In 2001, the Akron Civil Theater underwent a $19 million restoration and expansion project. Today, the theater is a central feature of Akron culture and tourism. It is a home to several shows throughout the year, ranging from dramatic plays to musicals. Ticket prices vary depending on the show and can be purchased in person or by phone from Monday through Friday at 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Be careful to note special summer hours and closings on the Akron Civil Theater website at www.akroncivic.com. Located near several Akron hotels like the Hilton and the Radisson, it’s a great activity for Akron tourists looking for a cultured evening out.
