Located 9.5 km from the center of Horta, the Horta Airport (HOR), the airport is the only airport that serves the Central Islands. It also serves as a route and junction to Lisbon. HOR is a Portuguese airport that has had a major remodel in the end of 2001. There are also plans for revamping the runways and making them longer to support larger planes in the near future.

As a coastal airport that has seen service since 1971, HOR is an airport that is dedicated to the local transportation and regional needs.
