Established from part of Hot Springs Reservation, Arkansas' Hot Springs National Park Aquarium was created in 1832 by the federal government. It is located next to the city of Hot Springs, in central Arkansas. The hot springs originated in the Hot Springs Mountain and have been managed in an attempt to ensure the preservation of their uncontaminated hydrological system of flow. For more than a century people have sought treatment in these baths for common ailments and illnesses, as the pure water has been long thought to be therapeutic. Over a half a million gallons flow each day through these springs.
