Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome

Hotels near Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, Minneapolis, United States .

The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, often just called the Metrodome, is located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was opened in 1982 as a replacement for the Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, Minnesota. It is the home of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings and until October of 2009 was also the playing field of the MLB’s Minnesota Twins.

This ninth oldest stadium in the NFL is known for its self-supported fiberglass roof and its double-purpose as a baseball and a football stadium. It can be configured into a basketball arena and has hosted several NCAA tournaments. The Metrodome also hosts several cultural events throughout the year.

Though in the past the Metrodome has been criticized for its less-than ideal setting, the neighborhood in which it is located is constantly growing. Today, accommodations such as the Holiday Inn and the Best Western render it easier than ever for sports fans and visitors to get to and from the Metrodome.
