Erected in 1889, the Humbert Memorial rests predictably on Humbert Street. The statue was erected in 1898, commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the French landing at Killala, Ireland in 1798.

Jean Josh Amable Humbert, in which the memorial is named, was a French soldier during French Revolution days. He led a failed attack on Ireland with the intention of helping Irish rebels from the British in 1798. Locals G.J. Giny & Sons have recently restored the statue, the original work of a Dublin sculptor.

Lovers of salmon may come to Ballina not to see the Humbert Memorial, but rather to partake the Ballina Salmon Festival in July. Due to the town's location on the River Moy, salmon serves the catch of the day in Ballina.
