The Humewood Links Golf Club, an 18-hole links golf club, is considered as one of the top golf courses in South Africa and is also touted as being “the only true links in South Africa.” It is located in the seaside region of Port Elizabeth and over the years, it has played host to several important golfing events. The club is also known for the wildlife that frequents the course; this includes a type of plover known as the ‘kiewietjies’. The same plover is also depicted in the Humewood Links Golf Club’s emblem.

The decision to create the Humewood Links Golf Club was made in 1929 and architect Colonel SV Hotchkin was behind the design process. It is said that the old courses in St Andrews inspired Hotchkin in designing Humewood. Throughout its history, Humewood has seen several changes and additions. At present, it remains the only true Links golf course outside of Britain.

Seventy-two is the par score when playing in Humewood Links Golf Club. The fairway is planted with Kweek and the green with Gulf Green.
