Easily one of, if not, the most impressive of Budapest's structures, the Hungarian Parliament Building grandiosely stands along the banks of the Danube River in Hungary.

The building came to be in 1885 when construction began with Hungarian architect Imre Steindl's dream. Offered as a contest, Steindl's plans won, with his idea officially completed in 1904. Steindl would not get to see his finished design, going blind just before the building was polished to perfection.

The Hungarian Parliament Building features white neo-gothic turrets and arches. The building covers 268 meters in length of the city of Budapest. Its interior matches the complex exterior of the building. With 12.5 miles of corridors, a 96-meter high central dome, and 691 rooms, to say the Hungarian Parliament Building is large would even be an understatement.

The decorations on the building alone are impressive. Hungarian monarchs and military commanders continue to reign in statue-form on the outer walls of the building. 88 pounds of gold went into decorating the Hungarian Parliament as well.

Tours are offered when parliament is not in session. Visitors not only get to marvel at the building, but also the Holy Crown of Hungary rests inside. If a camera is looking for the best shot of the Hungarian Parliament Building, the opposite side of the bank at Gellért Hill and Castle Hill produce the best panoramic photographs.

The Building's praises just keep on giving. The Hungarian Parliament Building remains one of the tallest buildings in Budapest, and even more impressively, one of the largest Parliaments in all of Europe.
