Built in 1988, The John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, or the Hynes Convention Center for short, is used for a number of conferences and annual events, including CollegeFest, where hordes of students fresh to the city descend upon the space for the local corporations to have their shot at convincing them which credit card and bank accounts to sign up for. Other big events that happen at the Hynes Convention Center include a yearly jazz festival and competition, featuring high school jazz bands from around the country, as well as the yearly Anime Boston convention, which has close to 20,000 attendees a year.

It's easy to get to the Hynes Convention Center by both the T's Green Line and Orange Line. Since it's so close to the popular shopping area known as The Prudential Mall, staying at hotels near the Pru, including The Copley Square Hotel, puts visitors right near the convention center. One local hotel, The Colonnade Hotel Boston, is actually connected to the convention center, are some of the big chain hotels like The Sheraton Boston and The Marriott Copley Place.
