At 792 feet, the IDS Center is the tallest building in the state of Minnesota. The building was constructed in 1974 to become the headquarters of what is today known as Ameriprise Financial. Noted not only for its height, the building is also remarkable for its architectural and design significance. It includes an observation deck, mechanical floors and even two secret levels between the 8th and 9th floors. It is the home of several important businesses and is used by broadcasting companies including Univision and the Home Shopping Network.

The IDS Building is also the home to a state-of-the art shopping center on its ground floor, housing several gift shops, apparel store and specialty locales. It is also home to the Marquette Hotel and Basil´s Restaurant. The IDS Building is the host of several special events throughout the year.
