Located in the capital city of India, The Indira Gandhi International Airport was named after the nation’s former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. This airport is South Asia’s busiest airport and handles around 23.9 million passengers annually. Originally known as the Palam Airport, the airport was used as an Air Force station during the Second World War.

Currently undergoing expansion and modernization programs, The Indira Gandhi International Airport aims cater to more than 100 million passengers by the end of 2030. There are six terminals currently available at the airport.

Terminal 1 serves as the domestic terminal, while Terminal 2 handles all international flights. Terminal 3 is under construction and is said to be the third largest in the world upon its completion and will eventually serve both domestic and international flights. The remaining terminals are the Hajj terminal and the Cargo Terminal.

Passenger airlines include Air India Regional, GoAir, Indian airlines, Indigo, Jagson Airlines, Jet airways, Jetlite, Kingfisher Airlines, Paramount Airways, Aeroflot, Aerosvit, Air Arabia, Air Astana, Air China, Air France, Cathay Pacific and the British Airways.

This airport is the international entry point into the city of Delhi which is the largest city in India and the eighth most populous city in the world. Some of the sights and attractions in India are the Jama Masjid, Red Fort, Qutab minar, Humayan’s Tomb, The India Gate, The Jantar Mantar, The akshardam temple, The Parliament of India, and others.
