Iqalit Airport, or YFB according to IATA codes, is located near the capital city and it is owned and operated by the government of Nunavut. The airport provides passenger service from Montreal, Ottawa, Rankin Inlet and also Kuujjuaq. It services First Air and Canadian North. The airport is rather small, and larger aircraft don’t usually pass through. Before serving general commercial aircraft, the airport functioned as an air force base during the 1940s and 1950s. The airport has one main terminal building and one main runway; within the terminal you’ll find a gift shop, car rental services, baby room, taxi service and one baggage claim belt.
