The Israel Museum is the national museum of Israel. It was founded in 1965 and stands on a hill in the Givat Ram area of Jerusalem. It is located near the Israeli Supreme Court, the Knesset and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The driving spirit behind the development of the Israel Museum was Mayor Teddy Kollek. Today, the museum is currently one of the leading archaeology and art museums in the world. The main museum hours include Sundays to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays and holidays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
