Hotels near Jack Trice Stadium, Ames, United States .

In 1975, the Jack Trice Stadium was inaugurated in Ames, Iowa. Home to the Iowa State Cyclones, it is the unofficial college football home of the region. With a seating capacity of 55,000 people, it was updated in 2002 with a video/scoreboard and permanent lighting installation. Jack Trice, the first African-American athlete at Iowa State, died in 1923 from injuries he sustained while playing football. Today, his memory lives on in this grand stadium. A 6.2 million dollar renovation in the early 2000s saw the addition of a press tower, which has the capacity for press and radio television, and 49 sky box suites for 18-32 people per unit.
