Situated in the southern reaches of the city of Chicago, Jackson Park is a 600 acre public park that offers outdoor enjoyment to locals and visitors of the area. The park itself is located at 6401 South Stony Island Avenue, on the western shore of Lake Michigan.

Constituting a total of approximately 600 acres with long jogging paths and tailored gardens, Chicago's Jackson Park has quite a history within the Chicago Park District. In 1893, the site that today is known as Jackson Park served for six months as the venue of the World's Columbian Exposition, or the World Fair as it is today referred to as. After the closing of the fair, the area was refitted as a public park and in 1899 the first public golf course to the west of the Alleghenies was opened in Jackson Park. Two structures perdure in the park as reminders of the World Fair: the Golden Lady miniature version of Daniel Chester French's Statue of the Republic and the Fine Arts Palace, which today has been converted into the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry.

Today, Jackson Park boasts a newly revitalized Japanese Osaka Garden and a series of lagoons with freshly replenished fish stocks, making the park a favorite fishing destination among the locals.
