For over 90 years, the Jackson Zoo has been a main tourist attraction for visitors to Mississippi. It is also beloved by locals, however, due to its enormous collection of more than 200 animal species. On the zoo's 110-acre property there are more than 800 individual animals. It is estimated that approximately 200,000 local and tourist visitors enter the park each year. The Jackson Zoo is the only zoo in Mississippi to be accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and it is the second largest zoo in the state as well. In addition to observing the numerous wildlife displays, visitors to the zoo can spend a day leisurely picnicking in the Zoo's Livingston Park, riding the Endangered Species Carousel, or snacking at the Elephant House Cafe.

The Jackson Zoo is open daily from 9 a.m-5 p.m. Tickets are $8.00 for adults, $7.20 for seniors, and $5.00 for children.
