The Jacksonville Historical Center, located at 317 A. Philip Randolph Blvd. in Jacksonville, Florida, tells the history of Jacksonville through the present. Put on by the Jacksonville Historical Society, a group which got its start back in 1929, the center spins a tale of the city through the ages, through the use of various exhibitions and shows. Special features of the center include The Jacksonville Story and the The Jacksonville History Show. The Jacksonville Story was a popular local website devoted to local history, put on by librarian Glenn Emery. The History Show is a featured cable television broadcast which centers around various themes and speakers about the city's past. Other notable items and attractions at the center include Jacksonville's Architectural Heritage, a well-regarded reference book published in 1989, historic photos, and the tale of the Great Fire of 1901, which left much of the city in ruins.
