Those with an interest in history and a bit of time to spare while in Knoxville might enjoy a visit to James White Fort. Built in the 18th century and still standing today, the fort has seen a great deal of important moments in early American history, especially during the heyday of The Revolutionary War. James White Fort started from humble beginnings, when a single cabin that belonged to James White gradually grew, until it was a number of different cabins that eventually became a settlement, before eventually becoming the fort.

To this day, travelers can still visit the fort and some of the remaining log cabins, as well as the original stockade. More than just an important historical spot in American history, the fort is also of special interest to those buffs looking to find out more about the history of Knoxville, since James White was the founder of the city.
