Locally known as the Jüdisches Museum, the Jewish Museum of Frankfurt am Main exhibits the life of the Jewish people in Frankfurt from their arrival during the Middle Ages up to the present times. It can be found in eastern Frankfurt, in the original Jewish ghetto. The Jewish community in Frankfurt is the largest in Germany and the museum’s building used to be the 19th century Rothchild palace.

Through the Jewish Museum of Frankfurt am Main, visitors can take a glimpse of the daily lives of the Jews in the city through their rituals, festivals, livelihood and costumes. It also shows the darkest moment of the Jewish people during the Second World War wherein synagogues where burned, they were “terminated” and sent to death camps.

There are guided tours available upon request. It closes every Mondays, December 24-25 (Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) and December 31-January 1 (New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day). From Tuesdays to Sundays, the museum is open from 10am till 5pm while on Wednesday, from 8am till 8pm.

Admission is 4€ for adults and 2€ for children. Admission is free every Saturdays.
