Jim Thompson House

Hotels near Jim Thompson House, Bangkok, Thailand .

Don’t knock at Jim Thompson House expecting to find the gentleman to answer. This museum is testament to one man’s fascination with Thai culture, something that is totally foreign to Thompson, an American who lived in Bangkok after World War II.

One aspect of Thai culture that greatly impressed Jim Thompson was the silk industry. He sought to contribute to the silk production industry by building this workshop and museum. Visitors can have a fill of the finest silks around, as created by local artists.

Jim Thompson House is also a repository of fine masterpieces including porcelain from China, wood carvings from Burma and other Asian treasures. The structure itself is a cluster of teak houses set in tranquil gardens, right in the heart of commercial Bangkok! To get a more impressive view, visit Jim Thompson House anytime from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. It is located along Soi Kasemsan Song, right across National Stadium.
