Jishuitan Station is a subway station that lies east of the Jishuitan Bridge and is a part Line 2 of the Beijing Subway, the second oldest and busiest subway line in Beijing. The station is one of the main entry points into Beijing. A common complaint with this station is the lack of escalators, which is not very desirable for passengers with large baggage.

Line 2 of the Beijing Subway station was opened in 1971. It is 23.61 km long and composed of 18 stations. Jishuitan Station is unique in that it runs around the former City Moat and goes past the northern portions of Chongwen and Xuanwu. Named after the nearby Jishuitan Bridge, the station line is distinguished by the color blue in subway transit charts. The first inner loop train departs from the Station at 5:03 a.m. and the last inner loop departs from the station at 10:55 p.m.

Jishuitan Station enjoys a convenient location near Jishuitan Hospital and Beijing Normal University. Major attractions near the station include the Museum of Ancient Money, Houhai Bars & Shishahai Lake, Old Beijing Trading Market and Xinjiekou Shopping Street, to name a few.

The station is only 8 minutes from the HeYuan International Youth Hostel, courtyard hostel which lies at the heart of Beijing. Another accommodation option is Sleepy Inn which is only 50 meters from the station itself. It is also a few minutes away from the bus terminal to the east. Because the station is conveniently located near Beijing’s lake district places for eating, drinking, shopping and other forms of recreation are all within a short distance away.
