Jockey's Ridge State Park, which is located in Nags Head, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, is filled with beautiful natural scenery, making it a great place for families to frequent and spend the day. Jockey’s Ridge is home to the tallest natural sand dune on the Eastern seaboard. The sunsets there are dazzling. You can spend the day exploring the sand dunes, taking a stroll around the surrounding tidal waters of the Roanoke Sound on the park’s western boundary, or you can take in the rich variety of plant and animal life in the area. Popular activities include sandboarding, kiteboarding, picknicking, hiking, hang gliding, and simply soaking in the sites. The park has a exhibit hall which plays host to educational events on occasion.
