The John Brown House, located at 52 Power Street in Providence, Rhode Island, is a beautiful historical reminder about our nation's beginnings. Upon completion in 1788, it was considered a marvel and a masterpiece by the local community, and indeed, it was one of the most illustrious mansions in the country. Owner John Brown was a politician, entrepreneur, and China Trade pioneer (among numerous other things), and together with his daughters and their families, they made the House a lively family gathering spot. During the latter part of the 1800s, the Gammell family called the residence home, and real estate entrepreneur Marsden Perry took it over in the 1900s. Today, exhibits showcase objects, paintings, documents, and historical artifacts from the past owners and residents. Facility rentals are available, and numerous concert series and events are held here annually.

Walking tours leave the museum Tuesdays through Saturdays, at 11 am, and last 90 minutes. They are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $6 for children aged 12 and under.
