Located alongside the 1400 block of Santa Barbara Street roughly in the center of the city of Santa Barbara, California, Alameda Park is one of the more pleasant and inviting urban green spaces visitors in town will come across. Alameda Park occupies a full two-block chunk of the city adjacent to the Alice Keck Gardens, and there are plenty of facilities and amenities to be found in the park. For example, a favorite with local children (and parents too, of course) is the huge 8,000 square foot playground facility in the center of the park; also, there is a bandstand, a central gazebo, a few scattered picnic areas and benches, and of course the many open green areas for playing sports or simply enjoying the scenery.

Alameda Park is one of Santa Barbara's oldest public parks, and it has long been the preferred spot for a variety of private and public functions, such as the city celebration of the Summer Solstice. It is recognized for its concentration of rare and numerous trees, many of which were personally planted by Superintendent A.B. Doremus in the early 20th century.
