Joyland Amusement Park

Hotels near Joyland Amusement Park, Wichita, United States .

For families looking for an exciting afternoon and a great way to beat the heat, there was no better place to head in Wichita than over to Joyland Amusement Park. Open from 1949 until 2003, the park currently closes for the winter and is open only during the spring through the fall.

Originally a simple family business with one miniature train, Joyland Amusement Park grew and expanded until it included a couple of roller coasters, including many wooden coasters that are known to buffs around the country, as well as for other attractions that didn't quite get the heart pumping so fast, including one of the largest organs in the whole state of Kansas.

The park's current layout includes miniature trains and some of the same wooden coasters, but also has bumper cars, a tilt-a-whirl and log flume ride, a Ferris wheel, and a skycoaster. There is a go-kart track and also a frontier town, as well as play areas for younger children.

It's best to check with the official Joyland Amusement Park to find out the season opening and closing dates. A number of hotels are just a short drive from Joyland Amusement Park, including the Days Inn Witchita, the Comfort Inn South, and the Economy Inn.
